Spark up a doobie??

So the latest on the fibromyalgia front is that marijuana may help with the pain. You can read the CNN Health article What do you think? Is it something you've tried? Would you consider it?

As the mother of 4 children, 2 of which are teenagers, I don't know how I could start to rationalize trying such a treatment. Yes they are intelligent kids but the fact that a) it's illegal and b) you spend your life teaching them to just say no to drugs weighs heavy on me. I tend to shun any pain medication because of how it affects my brain- the fog, the way my body metabolizes them outweighs any temporary relief I may get from pain pills. I've opted for alternative ways to cope with my pain.

Part of me is intrigued by the possibilities of cannabis as a way to potentially have a less painful life and the other part of me thinks it is something that I couldn't do in good conscience.

Now where are those Doritos...... lol... totally kidding.

  1. I'd totally try it. And I have kids (including one who has experimented with pot), plus I LOATHE smoking. I liken medical mj use to using prescription drugs ... which I wouldn't want my kids getting randomly stoned on, either. I'd just explain it to them (the older ones and I have talked about mysupport of medical mj, already) and tell the school D.A.R.E. officer to shove it, lol.

BONUS: my stoner neighbors would be so freakin' jealous that I could blaze up legally, bwahahaha!

Seriously though, it's SO good to see you posting again, Ker. I do pray you find something to ease your torment. (((hugs)))

  2. Hey, I've missed you! Sorry it took me a while to see this though. :(

I would never try this. It goes against everything I believe in. Honestly I haven't even read the article yet, I just know from you've said about it I wouldn't do it.

But I do take pain pills. So I don't know if that makes me a walking contradiction or what, but I just know where I stand on drugs such as this. Something about it just seems very wrong.

I hope you're able to find something to help ease the pain that doesn't make you feel like you're living a double standard.

    *gentle hugs*
